GETTING STARTED

EFFY — MELEE / BRUISER

REN — CAN FLEX TO MELEE, RANGED, SUPPORT, AND DAMAGE
Why it matters: Picking a playstyle you enjoy (close-range, ranged, or support) keeps your first dives smoother!
💡 Each Diver’s mechanical playstyles are unique to their weapon types, however, any Diver can flex into any team-role based on your build selection choices during a Dive!
SELECT YOUR DIVER on the character-select screen after hitting DIVE on the main menu. Every Diver possesses a Re:Volver device which serves are their distinct Hoverboard in Nishi Island Metropolis, allows them to transform into their true selves, and becomes and their weapon in So Mi!
Divers have unique dialogue interactions called Memory Fragments which reveal both their personality, backstories, and how they exist in our rich world.
Each Diver has 13-14 unique powers (abilities) picking a maximum of 4 per run.
Diver builds can be augmented with ~120 charms and power upgrades!

Global chat is the NIM default. So Mi chat defaults to your current diving party!

🎏 EXPLORE NISHI ISLAND METROPOLIS🎏
Nishi Island Metropolis (NIM) is a bustling social hub currently with
2 minigames (arcade + fishing)
up to ~35 Divers per channel
2 NPCs with crafting interactions
variety of interactive spots filled with world-building drops
NIM has 4 distinct times of day during which different fish may be caught only during certain cycles.

You can listen to Clover’s song 🎶 Caramel ft. Lilypichu while you’re in the area!

Sozo Summit lookout point provides a scenic look at both your Diver and NIM’s surrounding landscape!
Seasonal Summer Fest photo backdrop can be found at the Cherry Plaza for you and your friends to memorialize your participation in this Demo. While wearing our limited-time Bowline swimwear dekos of course!

🕹️ MINIGAMES 🕹️
FISHING @ FARSKY DOCKS
Divers must craft a fishing rod from Atlas (NPC) to fish.
When a fish bites, a clicking minigame appears! Follow the on-screen prompts to catch your first fish.
LURES enables social fishing. When you equip a lure, the enhanced effects benefits all surrounding Divers who are fishing near you!
TIP: The “Waku Waku” lure increases your odds of catching rare fish for everyone on your dock
There are currently 72 fish (not accounting for rarity) some of which appear only at specific times of day.
ARCADE GAME: POP POP BUNNY!
There are 3 spots around NIM with 6 total arcade machines from which you can play Effy’s favorite game, Pop Pop Bunny!
Merge similar bunnies to create the largest one! Each bunny drop sequence refreshes daily and find your place on the daily leaderboard!
🫐 Pop Pop Bunny! is also on mobile in the App Store and Google Play if you’re dying to take it with you on the go :)

HOW TO DIVE
So Mi dives are tuned for 4-player diving parties.
QUEUEING UP:
Press [TAB] to open your Diver Menu in NIM
Go to the Social Tab —> click [Join Party] next to your friends’ IGN.
Divers can toggle Party-Fill (default on) on the diving stage.
🌊 FLIP CURRENT & 🏕️ SACRED SKY
After your queue pops, you’ll witness your Diver’s henshin transformation sequence into their So Mi form, their true self.
Land in FLIP CURRENT — a room between worlds where you can get comfortable with your Diver movements and basic attacks before voting with your team on which dreamworld thread to enter.
You will only have Diver basic attacks in this room before you pick up powers during your runs through dreamworlds.
When your party is ready to leave Flip Current, approach the Sacred Sky portal and your diving party must all vote (interact) to enter together.
Sacred Sky is our first and only available dreamworld during the Summer Fest Demo. It is a series of fantastical floating islands in the sky guarded by forest spirits protecting the secrets of abandoned ruins and perhaps more...
Upon early access release (later 2025) we will have 3 total dreamworlds for you to dive into the depths of and discover your limits.
ℹ️ SO MI BASICS ℹ️
👀 View your team’s Diver loadouts in the [TAB] menu while you’re in So Mi. You can find your personal build stats on the bottom right.
✨ ROOM REWARDS ✨
At the end of each room before voting for the next room’s portal, you must interact the room’s reward to claim it.
Power (Gachaball) — Divers learn a new power
Divers can have 4 powers per run but can replace existing ones! Rebinding Power slots is not currently supported.
If you skip picking a power, you will instead receive kendama power upgrade points which can be used to upgrade your existing powers in a kendama room.
Charms (Charm Bag) — Upgrades / augments to your current build.
See how your Diver stats are affected in the [TAB] menu on the bottom right!
Kendama (Hammer Toy) — Increases an existing power’s level using kendama upgrade points.
Kendama points can be bought in shop, gained by skipping a power selection, from completing a kendama room, or from crystal pinata drops.
Sominite (Crystal Candy) — Currency for So Mi shops.
Look for Chimei (So Mi shop NPC) who has a chance to appear with limited traveling inventory at the end of certain rooms.
Crystal Plume (Feather) — Full-health teammate revive item.
Each diving team starts off with 2! If you are on a solo run and have crystal plumes in your inventory, you will auto-revive if downed.
TEAM PORTAL VOTES ON THE NEXT ROOM
After everyone collects or skips their end room rewards, three portal icons appear — each showing the icon associated for the reward type of the next room. Your diving party will vote on which portal to advance to.
Mixed votes will be counted as a weighted vote chance.
🪫 RE:FUEL SYSTEM 🔋
Fuel is a team-shared resource.
Fuel slowly drains as Divers exert energy pushing through the rooms of their dreamworld runs.
Running completely out of Fuel will cause all Diver's’ HP to start ticking down.
FUEL DRAINERS:
Passive Drain as you explore each room
Crystal Loot Pinata Gamble: Sacrifice a percentage of your current Fuel to try for Kendama upgrade points and Sominite drops by hitting the crystal pinata
Downed Teammate: Each downed Diver applies a multiplier to how fast your Fuel typically drains. Rescue your friends quickly!
HOW TO RE:FUEL:
Perfect Clears: You can regain fuel for your team by taking no health damage in a room! If your entire diving party takes no damage an extra bonus is applied on top of each individual Diver’s contributions.
Fuel KIBIs: If your team sees a fat, tanky, golden KIBI hopping around at the start of a room, hunt it down! He will disappear after a set amount of time but hitting his health down at different stages will gain your moderate amounts of Fuel!
Shop Purchase: Buy Fuel from ChiMei. Sometimes she has them in different sizes… small, grande, venti sized, ya know?
🫧 RE:VIVE MECHANIC 🫧
When a Diver is downed, their weeping ghost is encapsulated by a crystal bubble.
Per each downed Diver, team Fuel drains faster than usual(multiplier)
HOW TO REVIVE:
Crystal Plume —> revives at full health.
Teammate must hold interact to revive. Limited resource. Each diving party start runs with 2 crystal plumes. Can be gained as an end room reward.
Popping the Ghost Bubble —> revives at low health.
Crystal Ghost bubbles have health. Strategically standing in front of enemy mobs in hopes your team fires a high-damage shot your way may pop your bubble!
Room Completion —> revives at low health.
Downed Divers are automatically revived if their team finishes out the room. But typically at the cost of having Fuel drained at a multiplier while they were downed.
🏥 HAVEN & 💰 SHOP ROOMS
Haven & shop rooms can be entered if their respective icons pop up above the next-room voting portals. They both contain a Fuel KIBI.
HAVEN ROOMS
Pray to Sena, our goddess, for 30% of your max health to be restored.
Break the surrounding stars for extra mana or sominite drops! Hunt the fat fuel kibi should you see it running by.
CHIMEI’S SHOP
Regular shop rooms will contain 12 items.
Divers can purchase Charms of different rarities, Fuel, Health, Reroll Tokens (for charms), Kendama upgrade points, and even Crystal Plumes if you’re lucky.
Traveling Shop: 3 items.
Finding Chimei passing by at the end of random rooms!
CRYSTAL LOOT PINATAS
Can be found randomly appearing at the end of room clears. Hitting the crystal pinata will gamble away the indicated % of your team’s fuel for a chance of gaining extra kendama upgrade points, sominite, or reroll tokens.
It is generally ill-advised to hit loot pinata irresponsibly…
Still trying to get used to the gameplay since I don't play rougelites, but this is pretty fun so far! I was only gonna play it for the Discord decoration, but I think I will play this ^_^
